この本の題名の中の「愛語」という言葉は道元禅師(1200-53)の著書『正法眼蔵』から引用した(The word “Aigo" or “Real Words" is a quotation from the book “Shobo Genzo" (The Eye and Treasury of the True Law) by Zen master Dogen(1200-53).

この本はアメリカの詩人, ゲイリー・スナイダー(1930-), アレン・ギンズバーグ(1926-97),ウォレス・スティーヴンズ(1879-1955)について書かれたものである(This book is about Gary Snyder, Allen Ginsberg, Wallace Stevens).
